Unprocessed, naturally made, and rich in various nutrients, palm candy is indeed a great addition to your daily diet.

But how are these wonderful sweeteners manufactured? What gives them the exceptional qualities they are known for? Let’s learn.

How Palm Candy is Made

First comes the collection of the palm sap. For that, one or two palm flowers are cut, and a specially treated earthen pot is placed around it to capture the sap fully. To prepare the earthen pot, the interior is coated with slaked lime so that the sap does not ferment.

The directly collected sap is also quite nutritious and can be consumed. To prepare palm candy, the sap is collected in large vats and cooked till it becomes thick. This thick syrup is then poured into pots to make palm candy.

A tiny palm leaf is placed in the centre of the pot, covered with a fabric, and then left undisturbed for 3 months. During this period, the syrup crystallises into enormous crystals of palm candy. This is then cut and bottled for use by people.

As you can see, palm candy is free from any chemical additives and thus is safe to consume by all Natural palm candy is a great substitute for white sugar and has several health benefits.

How to Consume Palm Candy

The nicest part of palm candy is its pleasant flavour. It is distinctly different from white sugar. Some common ways you can include it in your daily diet include:

  • You can use it as a sweetener and add a teaspoon of palm candy to your cup of tea, coffee, or milk and savour its incredible taste.
  • You can add premium quality tal mishri to your sweet preparation to make desserts distinct in taste and high in nutritional value.
  • A teaspoon of palm candy can also be added to fruit juice for added benefits.

Benefits of Palm Candy

The refining procedure of unprocessed sugar, using de-colourising and de-ashing agents, robs off a lot of nutritional value from it. Because palm candy or tal mishri is unprocessed, it naturally contains a variety of minerals and vitamins that can help meet your daily nutritional needs. Nutrients such as potassium, nitrogen, phosphorus, iron, and zinc are present in ample amounts in palm candy. These minerals help strengthen the immune system and improve cognitive function.

Palm sugar breaks down very easily and is absorbed in the body in a short time. In fact, the digestion process starts as soon as the candy hits your mouth, giving you a much-needed boost in energy at the start of your day.

Palm candy contains minerals such as vitamin B, iron, and calcium, which keep us energised throughout the day. As it is free from chemicals, children can consume it safely and get the daily dosage of essential nutrients easily integrated into their diet.

Palm candy is a natural remedy for cough and cold and has long been used to treat these common health issues. Regular consumption of premium quality tal mishri also helps to keep these diseases at bay.
